EMMA-JANE & JOSH
Foreword
I can’t begin to tell you the level of excitement when I first heard EJ + Josh wanted us to take the creative reigns for their wedding.
A wedding at the newly opened and refurbished Milton St Substation? Yes please! We take every wedding we style as an increidble honour, but this was double the excitement as it would be the first wedding to be held at this historic venue.
Working at a completely new venue adds an additional level of planning - from the floor plan and how tables will work, to movement of catering and bar staff, logistics for packing in and out, lighting and equipment needed. Add on yet another level of complexity, EJ + Josh were set on having everything upstairs, this meant we needed to flip the ceremony to the reception in a tight timeframe while guests mingled downstairs. This is what we do - if you’re wanting the kings of the flip, then you’ve got them. We’ve done countless flips in the last 10 years and it all comes down to making sure everyone knows exactly what they’re doing and everyone works together (and we don’t get in eachothers way)! You won’t find any other company in Canterbury that have this expertise (we’re pretty proud of that if you can’t tell)! We had 1.5 hours to flip the space which included moving a hanging installation, setting out all tables + chairs, place settings, name cards, greenery, candles… everything that we would typically allow 4 hours alone for.
We loved it! EJ + Josh wanted somethingbeautiful and cohesive, that worked well with the venue’s industrial charms and their own inidividual styles. We had lots of beautiful candlelight on the tables, and in the nooks of the concreate and brick walls. The fairylights created a beautiful ambiance and softing, draped throughout the steel beams of the top floor, and draped down creating a dramatic entranceway to the bottom floor and main door.
The entrance had a service bar and seated area adorned with rug, and in what we call the ‘main room’ on the bottom floor, the guestbook table, seating and games which followed out to the courtyard lit up by festoons and bar leaners.
It was a truly magical day and night and we couldn’t be any happier for these two!

Feedback
"The Little Hire Company went above and beyond to make sure our wedding venue looked incredible for our wedding day. We trusted Fallon and her team to deliver on our vision, and that absolutely paid off. The attention to detail and little extras they provided really brought our vision to life. It looked magic."
We had so many compliments on our decor. It really worked with the overall look of the venue, and Fallon's advice on how to do this well was invaluable."
We were so impressed with the florals for our wedding. The bouquets and buttonholes were unique and stunning, and the hanging floral installations were next-level. They really gave the venue the X-factor."
It was great working with a decorator-florist team. It meant less admin and appointments for us, and a more cohesive look."
